DUQUESA GOLF FRIENDS

1. RULES

 

The Society shall be called Duquesa Golf Friends and is not affiliated to any other entity.

The purpose of the society is to provide not-for-profit regular andreliable social golf for residents and visitors to the Duquesa area.

Membership subscription shall be Euro 20 per calendar year, to be reviewed annually.

Contact shall be by WhatsApp and members are deemed to have given all other members of the society access to their WhatsApp contact details.

2. Code of Conduct

  • Members are required to abide by the Rules of Golf as published by the R & A and the USGA. (see  https://www.randa.org)
  • Players must behave in a courteous manner towards othermembers, other players and course staff.
  • Respect the course by replacing divots, repairing pitch-marks and raking bunkers properly.
  • Avoid slow play.  Keep up with the group in front.  Be ready to play your shot when it’s your turn to play.  Ready golf is recommended where possible. 

3. Society Rules

Play will be conducted according to the full Rules of Golf except:-

  1. Placing is permitted on Fairways only - strictly within 6 inches(clean and place). Ball position should be marked before lifting.
  2. A ball coming to rest in the rough, in a bunker or in a penalty area/hazard shall be played as it lies (no placing).
  3. All putts must be holed – no ‘gimmees’.
  4. Cards shall be swopped with the players in the other buggy to be marked and must be signed by player and marker. Cards without the appropriate signatures will be disqualified.
  5. Men shall play from the Yellow Tees and Ladies from the Red Tees.

 

4. Handicaps

TWO Catagories:

Catagory 1---  MEN up to 15.0 Handicap     LADIES up to 20.0 Handicap

Catagory 2---  MEN 15.1 o 28 Handicap      LADIES 20.1 up to 36 Handicap

 

Note

WHS handicaps as of 01 January in each year (certificates required) subject to the above limits of 28 for Men and 36 for Ladies.

Those without an official WHS handicap must provide the committee with evidence of a handicap issued by a recognised society.  Failing such evidence, players will be restricted to a maximum of 18 Men and 24 Ladies.

 

4.1 Playing Handicaps

Competitors will play off a Playing Handicap (PH)calculated from the Course Handicap (CH) tables published by each club.  Each player will play off 100% of the Course Handicap calculated by entering the Course Handicap Tablesfor the Yellow or Red tees with his/her exact WHS Index and using the handicap thus obtained.

 

4.2 Handicap Cuts

Society cuts (shots) will be applied only to First, Second and Third prize-winners at each outing as follows:

Catagory 1

First Prize         1.5 shot cut

Second Prize     1.0 shot cut

Third Prize         .5 shot cut

Catagory 2

First Prize.        3.0 shot cut

Second Prize.    2.0 shot cut

Third Prize.       1.0 shot cut

 

4.3 Handicap Increases

(a) Handicap Increases shall apply only to those who have won a prize.  

(b) Increases shall continue per outing played until the player reaches the handicap he/she had when winning the previous prize.  

(c) Should a player win another prize before the handicap has returned to the original, the increase shall cease and the appropriate cut shall be made to the handicap on that day.  

Shot increase per outing 

Category 1 is 0.5 shots back

Category 2 is 1.0 shot back 

 

5. Prizes

For outings with a minimum of 12 players three prizes shall be awarded.  Further prizes may be awarded in competitions where there are larger numbers of players.

N.B.The minimum number of players to hold an official outing shall be 8. If there are fewer than 8 playing, they must organise their own golf.
